Released in 1986, the low-top version of the Superstar was the counterpart to the Pro Model and the first flat leather basketball sneaker of the traditional German company from Franconia. The Superstar got its unique identity from the rubber toe forefoot, which quickly became known as the “Shell Toe”. After the hip-hop superstars of the time “RUN DMC” dedicated their song “My adidas” to the Superstar and wore it at all their performances without laces, the Superstar got an iconic status that still lasts today. Also legendary are the collaborations with “Bathing Ape” aka the “Bape stars from 2003 and of course the 35th anniversary edition. This classic Superstar comes with an almost all-white upper and a speckled midsole. What makes this shoe really special, however, is the sustainable concept, as the upper is made from at least 70% recycled materials and the outsole was made from special rubber trees. In addition, the shoe was produced from vegan materials and has the slogan “this shoe alone will not safe the planet” and the purple details about cool optical highlights.
