The 996 has been one of the icons in the New Balance lineup since its initial release in 1987. The silhouette was the very first running shoe to break the $100 price mark. And for good reason: the Revlite sole unit, rubber outsole and suede upper wowed runners and athletes around the globe. Now it’s back in its original silhouette and we’re blown away. Black and grey suede, and mesh with uniform stitching, the tongue with woven label, reflective 3M “N” on the side and a shape that is still as gorgeous as it was back then. This is the stuff retro dreams are made of! For more New Balance 996 models, check out our New Balance 996 review.
